About Kabowd
Kabowd is a transliteration of the Hebrew word כָּבוֹד (kavod or kabod), meaning glory, honour and splendour. Its root carries the idea of weight or heaviness, symbolising worth and substance. When attributed to God, Kabowd expresses the majesty, significance and overwhelming reality of His glorious presence.
In Exodus 24:16, we read:
“The glory of the LORD dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days.”
In this passage, the phrase “the glory of the LORD" is kavod YHWH which describes the awe-inspiring manifestation of God's presence resting upon the mountain.
This same Kabowd filled the temple when the priests and Levites gathered in worship before the LORD, as recorded in 2 Chronicles 5:13-14. So powerful and weighty was His glory that the priests could not continue their ministry. The Hebrew word לַעֲמוֹד — la’amod means to stand, remain or continue in one's position. God's glory was so overwhelming that the priests were unable to stand and perform their service.
Vision and Purpose
Kabowd exists to host the presence of God and to exalt the Lord Jesus, the King of Glory. Our desire and aim is to cultivate an atmosphere where Jesus is loved, welcomed, worshipped and given full room to move as He desires. In every gathering, we fix our gaze on Jesus, beholding His beauty and lingering in His presence with reverence and expectation.
We meet online every fortnight on Thursday at 7:00 pm (Sydney time), setting aside sacred space for worship and waiting upon God.
Kabowd is a place for encounter - a space where the splendour of Jesus is treasured, where His presence is honoured and where His glory transforms all who come before Him. During these precious moments of intimate worship, the Wonderful Holy Spirit often releases words from heaven that, when received in faith, have the power to transform lives and alter their course.
Many have been deeply impacted by the rhema words spoken in His presence, finding encouragement, direction, healing and renewed hope. These sacred encounters draw hearts closer to Jesus, deepen faith and reveal the beauty and majesty of His glory. Through every gathering, our longing is that lives would be changed, hearts awakened, and Jesus glorified above all else.
